How to reach us:
From Piazzale del Mercato
The steepest way to arrive to La Bucaccia is to park in the Piazzale del Mercato and climb to Porta Bifora, the ancient and medieval door recently restructured and reopened to enter. Piazzale del Mercato is the first parking that you will find along the main street, whether you climb to Cortona passing by Camucia or you climb to Sodo coming from Arezzo. The parking is very large and also suitable for coaches. Park under the lime-trees of the tree-lined avenue along the walls, and enter through Porta Bifora, you’ll only need to climb the street known as the “ Bucaccia” for about 50 meters and you find the entrance of the restaurant on the right hand side.
From Via Guelfa
Alternatively, parking at the Mercato square, you can enter the historical centre from via Guelfa and walk all the way up this street full of handcraft shops. Before you arrive to the main square of Cortona, Piazza della Repubblica, turn to the left to via Ghini. After 50 meters you will find the restaurant on the left side.
From Via Nazionale
Via Nazionale is the main street of Cortona, also known as the “Rugapiana. If, before you get to the restaurant, you wish to walk around the old town, park under the Parterre garden. (Attention: pay for the parking if you park on the blue stripes before 8 pm and again be careful not to park on spaces reserved for residents). Walk in the direction of Piazza Garibaldi, the square with the large obelisque dedicated to the memory of soldiers killed standing at its centre. Then wall along the street as far as Piazza della Repubblica, where the City Hall with its charming steps is located.
There are two arches on the left of the steps: the first is at the beginning of Via Roma; the second, smaller than the former, is the entrance of Via Ghibellina. Take this street and then, just 100 meters down the hill, you will find our restaurant on the left-hand side.
On return, before you get your car and make your way back home, we suggest a healthy walk through the Parterre garden. |
